This is an unedited recording captured from a remote live stream in southeast Estonia. Earlier in the day I placed a streaming rig and microphones in a forest adjacent to a bog a few kilometres from my house. I had initially set up the stream to monitor bird life at this location during the spring migration period. There was no rain in the forecast.

Close to midnight flashes started to appear in the sky. This was unusual as thunderstorms are somewhat rare in Estonia and do not often occur outside of summer. Nonetheless, this storm passed through leaving its mark. The next day was unseasonably warm, above 20C, brought on by warm winds from the south carrying Saharan dust with it. Perhaps this also contributed to the onset of the surprise storm.
